Usually due to mineral buildup. Fill it with clean water or a 5:1 water–vinegar mix to the MAX line and run the self-cleaning cycle.

How do I clean the ice maker?

The top cover can be removed for easy cleaning. You can also run the self-cleaning cycle (press and hold ICE/CLEAN for 5 seconds) to help prevent scale and maintain performance.
